Global and Asia-Pacific Finance Minister of the Year 2010

In a story reported late last week, the Thai English language press announced the award of both Global and Asia-Pacific Finance Minister of the Year, presented by the well-renowned UK finance magazine, The Banker.

Some observers in Thailand may have been surprised that our very own Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij picked up the award, no doubt providing a welcome boost for the government at the beginning of a year likely to see an election. It will also be a setback for the opposition's claims of financial mismanagement.

UK's Sky Forces Journos Onto Tweet Deck

British satellite broadcaster has put social media at the top of its priorities for 2010 after ordering its journalists to install popular Twitter application Tweet Deck to encourage its team to make use of Twitter.
 
Sky made headlines last year when it appointed a ‘Twitter Correspondent’, Ruth Barnett, whose sole task was to scour the micro-blogging service for breaking news and stories.
 
Despite trying to embrace the medium Barnett’s appointment drew criticism, with many believing Sky could do more with Twitter and social media in general. In delegating all social media responsibilities to one person the organisation would see modest returns, with most journalists using the technology sparingly in the knowledge it was someone else’s area.

Business in Thailand 2010

2009 has gone, and let's hope the trials and tribulations of doing business in the past year have gone with it.

But what does 2010 hold in store for business both on a global and local scale.

According to a recent 'Optimism/Pessimism' business carried out by Grant Thornton, optimism is on the up in Thailand. After last year's negative level of -64%, Thai business surveyed this year returned to positivity, showing a +12% level of optimism.

2010: The Year Of Mobile Social Networking In Thailand

2010 is here and rather than review the year we’d prefer to launch straight into mobile social networking, a technology which could break through and have a major influence on Thailand and its businesses this year.

Mashable has details of a cutting edge campaign, the Star Wars Death Star Super Laser, to promote its new products and definite a new level of interaction for social media campaigns.
