The question of work/life balance is a tricky one. At the frontline it is often easy for staff to switch on at 9am and switch off at the end of the day. For executives, this is less true.

The birth of email was the first step in quickening the pace of business communciations and the recent explosion of smartphones made less than instant replies seem slow. One question I've asked myself is if having mobile access to mails and messages is more efficient or more time consuming.

American Airlines And Hilton In 2 Hour Ad

Over the holiday weekend many of you may have out the laptop to the side and spent a bit of time with family and friends, but how many of you saw the extended advert for both American Airlines and Hilton Hotels?

Or should I say the latest George Clooney movie, 'Up In The Air'?

Clooney plays a corporate downsizing consultant who crosses the States laying off a myriad of employees from Detriot to St.Louis. He claims to have spent 45 days in the past year in his rather drab home and gives talks on what he carries in his bag. This is a man who lives in hotels and planesarmed with a stack of privelege cards collecting airmiles like they are going out of fashion. His dream? To get to the magical number of 10 million airmiles.

An article from leading social media blog TechCrunch has raised the argument that social media is killing brands in the UK. 

The post focuses on a recent social media crisis for Paperchase, “the undisputed brand leader in design lead and innovative stationery in the UK”. 

When allegations surfaced suggesting  the company had used images copied from a little known artist for a range of products it went viral, as per TechCrunch.
